Position Summary
Leads the management of all property and capital resources including the acquisition, construction and maintenance of all facilities for SYHealth. Oversee all design and construction projects for the organization. Plans, organizes, and manages all functions of the Facilities Department, including planning, design, construction, renovation, plant operations, custodial operations, site security, and maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, grounds, fleet, and equipment. Collaborate with the executive team on short- and long-term strategic plans for the organization.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Leads the development of all new facility projects for the organization including strategic planning, bidding, procurement, budget, schedule, design, permitting and construction oversight to ensure high quality facilities for the organization. Proactively manages risk and ensures projects are coordinated with other Departments.
- Ensures that SYHealth facilities are compliant with applicable regulatory organizations, and that construction projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance of existing facilities for the organization including space planning, parking, maintenance, security and the vehicle fleet.
- Oversee the development of requests for proposals for professional services and the advertising and bid processes. Coordinates with contract department to determine needs and requirements for contractual services and evaluates proposals and recommends project award. Negotiates contracts and agreements.
- Identifies, makes recommendations, and oversees major facility remodeling, renovations and cost-effectiveness solutions of facilities.
- Oversee the development and presentation of the operational activities budget, including projections for staffing and capital equipment.
- Ensures development and execution of contingency plans for SYHealth’s multi-site operations during emergency events.
- Oversee crisis management and recovery efforts during and after emergency events.
- Recommends operational objectives and participates in prioritizing and implementing strategic objectives for SYHealth.
- Participates in board activities as requested.
- Participates in the development of the SYHealth annual budget.
- Supervises department leadership and performs annual evaluations, coaching and feedback.
- Participates as appropriate in periodic review of facilities management functions.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives quality assurance programs, safety, and environmental standards.
- Keeps abreast of industry trends and focuses on professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
- Attends meeting as required and participates in committees as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Experience Required
- A minimum of 7+ years in a senior leadership position in facilities management or construction management with customer interface in a healthcare setting or other related field.
Certifications/Licenses Required
- CA driver’s license with appropriate insurance coverage.
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in making group presentations.
- Must be fluent in English.
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job
- Ability to create strong working relationships and develop the trust and followership of large teams.
- Ability to provide strategic direction and align work of large teams to the goals of the organization.
- Ability to build credibility and influence with the executive leadership team.
- Exceptional analytical capability.
Equipment Used
- Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Office work and occasional travel required.
- Long Irregular hours.
- Will visit construction sites and must be able to navigate safely through irregular terrain and follow all posted safety precautions.
