Summary

The Executive Director of Operations provides leadership and is responsible for the operation, maintenance, improvement, custodial service, safety, and security of buildings, grounds, and related equipment at all district facilities. This individual develops and maintains comprehensive preventive maintenance, energy management, staff development, training, product testing, facilities improvement, life safety, and other related programs. The director oversees assigned personnel, schedules work assignments and manages project development for the district. This individual serves as the district liaison for transportation services with our external providers and school leaders.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Works with staff, building administration, and central administration to achieve the goals contained in the district's strategic plan.
  • Assists the principals and other administrators in developing physical facilities to support the development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of curricular and instructional programs.
  • In partnership with the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations, develops the Long Range Facilities Plan, and works alongside architects and construction managers as a team of experts to help guide and inform the planning process.
  • Manages capital construction projects, major renovations, and systematic maintenance and improvement of all buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and systems, such as building automation, HVAC, public address/sound, passive video, card access, and facilities.
  • Coordinates and administers the Life Safety Program.
  • Develops and coordinates programs for the operation, maintenance, improvement, safety, and security of buildings, grounds, and related equipment.
  • Ensures facilities meet district custodial, maintenance, safety, and security standards.
  • Inspects or delegates inspection of repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance, and supplies to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently, specifications are within established guidelines, and inspection reports and payment requests are approved.
  • Responsible for district facilities compliance and inspection requirements.
  • Develops and coordinates a comprehensive preventive maintenance, energy management, and safety program.
  • Represents the district in dealing with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director of Technology, manages and monitors the District Work Order Management System.
  • Works with appropriate personnel to prepare and manage Capital, Operational, and Custodial budgets.
  • Maintain and manage the District Fixed Asset program, including recording of all procured and disposed capitalized equipment.
  • Collaborates with district and building leadership to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred, or a minimum of five years of experience managing large-scale facilities and operations organizations.
  • Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in operations and facilities required.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems and boilers.
  • Working knowledge of various trades such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Salary Range & Benefits

$140,000-$150,000
