Intellectual Property Partner (Patent Prosecution / Litigation / IP Strategy) – 8+ Years

Locations: Remote (U.S.); New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Florida; Texas

Compensation: $400,000 – $750,000+

Work Model: Fully Remote

Bar Admission: Active bar admission required

This is a law firm partner role focused on building and growing an intellectual property practice.

Candidates Must

  • Be a licensed attorney (JD required)
  • Have 8+ years of IP experience as a partner or senior counsel
  • Have a portable book of business (typically $750K+)
  • Have experience in Patent Prosecution, Patent Litigation, or both

This role is not suitable for:

  • Senior associates without portable business
  • IP attorneys without client ownership
  • Candidates seeking a traditional salary/draw model

About The Opportunity

We are working with a law firm seeking an Intellectual Property Partner to expand its IP platform. This role offers full autonomy to grow a practice with strong infrastructure, existing partner support, and cross-practice collaboration opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and grow an IP practice
  • Handle patent prosecution, litigation, or both
  • Advise clients on IP strategy and portfolio management
  • Coordinate U.S. and international filings and enforcement
  • Collaborate with corporate and transactional teams on IP‑driven deals

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of IP experience
  • Portable book of business (~$750K+)
  • Strong client relationship and business development skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with a collections‑based model
