Hermes Landscaping is a nationally recognized, award-winning, progressive company that has served the Kansas City metro for over 60 years. We operate across commercial construction, landscape maintenance, snow & ice management, and residential design-build. What we need now is a Director of Operations & Shared Services ready to take everything we've built and drive it into the next generation.

The Role This is a right-hand leadership position responsible for building and running the operational backbone of the company, everything that allows our field and sales teams to perform at a high level.

You will report directly to the CEO and have broad ownership across finance, administration, systems, risk, and infrastructure.

What you'll be doing: Finance & Business Operations Oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, and financial visibility Improve decision-making through better data and systems Administrative Leadership Lead and develop the administrative team Create structure, accountability, and consistency across the business Fleet & Asset Management Oversight of vehicles, equipment, and capital assets Improve utilization, lifecycle planning, and cost control IT & Systems Own systems roadmap (accounting, CRM, operational tools) Ensure systems actually support how the business runs Legal, Risk & Compliance Contracts, insurance, workers’ comp, claims, OSHA/DOT compliance Reduce risk and bring proactive structure to these areas Facilities & Infrastructure Manage company facilities, real estate, and capital improvements

Who we're looking for: This role is best suited for someone who has outgrown their current seat. You might be: A Controller or Director of Finance who already acts like an operator A Director of Operations in a service or construction business A leader in a privately held company ready for broader responsibility Someone who values working with nature and making the world more beautiful

Experience 10–15+ years in operations, finance, or general management Experience in a $10M–$75M business (construction, landscaping, farming or similar preferred) Proven track record of leading across multiple functions (not just one silo)

Requirements Strong financial acumen (CPA not required) Systems thinker who brings order to complexity High ownership / low ego Comfortable working directly with ownership Proven ability to execute and “get things done”
