Assistant Digital Editor (Contract)

Location: Knoxville, TN (Hybrid schedule to be confirmed)

4-Month Contract

We’re seeking an Assistant Digital Editor with a passion for digital storytelling, editorial strategy, and food/home lifestyle content. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced digital publishing environment and has experience creating content that drives engagement and audience growth.

What You’ll Do

• Pitch, write, and edit engaging digital articles across food, home, and commerce content verticals
• Support editors with content creation, updates, optimization, and editorial production
• Use research, analytics, and performance data to inform content programming and optimization strategies
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Editorial, SEO, Commerce, and Newsletter teams
• Help maintain and evolve content aligned with brand voice and audience interests
• Take on new editorial projects and support shifting priorities as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
• Experience in digital media, web publishing, lifestyle/entertainment media, or related industries
• Strong writing and editing skills with an understanding of editorial voice and content strategy
• Knowledge of food, home, and commerce content trends
• Familiarity with CMS platforms and digital publishing workflows
• Experience using SEO and analytics tools to evaluate content performance and optimize strategy
• Strong research, copy editing, and proofreading skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Background

• Experience with mobile, social, and emerging content platforms
• Data-driven editorial mindset with a strong understanding of audience growth
• Comfortable working across multiple projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams
