Digital Portfolio Work Lead - Traits

As part of the Crop Science R&D organization and reporting to the DS&E Platform Lead, you steer and guide a full portfolio of transformational work focused on advancing research and development approaches that fuel the current Biotech pipeline and design the future Biotech pipeline through an AI-first capability focus to accelerate innovation and bring outstanding products to support growers; You are accountable for the Biotech data, automation, AI, and agentic transformation strategy in close partnership with DTIT by defining the North Star and transformational delivery roadmap (in alignment with the DSE LT) that is fully aligned to Plant Biotech business needs and transformational technical strategies.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

Design and drive an aligned Plant Biotech Digital Transformation strategy with strong engagement of stakeholders in Biotech, DSE, and IT to ensure best-in-industry Plant Biotech capabilities;

Enable the strategic transformation and operational integration of automation engineering, digital, data science, and agentic AI to achieve mid- and long-term Biotech outcomes;

Translate, co-design, and prioritize the digital strategy into joint roadmaps across DSE and IT work teams through existing opex and capex processes and be accountable for coordinating work across different teams within DSE and in partnership with IT;

Architect and catalyze work that best fits within the Biotech function by championing DRF between different homes and ensuring resources flow to the highest-priority outcomes;

Drive strategic coherence of a comprehensive digital, engineering, and automation strategy that accelerates the technical strategies of Biotech;

Strategically engage to operationalize the digital strategy into workspaces in DSE and with IT partners to advance the R&D and Biotech strategy;

Ensure an aligned and prioritized strategic and operational portfolio based on grower insights for Biotech and the overall R&D strategy;

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

PhD with 7+ years, or Master's/Bachelor's with 10+ years of experience in Life Science R&D, especially in Biotechnology or resource/innovation management;

Proven track record of successfully building organizations, leading leaders, and establishing a culture of high performance, trust, and people development, with VACC thinking and behavior as a role model;

Proven track record in developing and mentoring highly educated, skilled team members in a global environment, with experience leading both direct and cross-functional teams;

Significant (10+ years) experience and proven track record in digitally transforming organizations and in digital portfolio management;

Strong collaboration and influencing skills to work effectively across Biotech, DSE, IT, and other key stakeholder groups in a complex, global matrix environment;

Proven ability to champion and role-model ethics, human rights, diversity & inclusion, safety, and security, fostering an empowering and accountable culture.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $191,280.00 - $286,920.00Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
