
YI Replication Consultant - Community Development

Position Summary
This position is responsible to carry out the curriculum of the YMCA Youth Institute alongside a replication agency through hands on instruction and consulting. This position may require a live in situation. It ensures that the youth involved with the project develop academic and 21st Century Learning skills through the utilization of digital media technology. Maintaining a team-centered, positive group dynamic and project based learning approach to all tasks assigned.
Essential Functions
Consult with replication agency’s Program Director and Instructors with regards to all Youth Institute Framework and Curriculum.
Help with the instruction of a group of high school age youth in the subject areas in the Qualifications Section, utilizing creative project based learning techniques.
Assist in the development and implementation of the entire curriculum taught.
Attend and supervise all functions, classes, retreats, and field trips associated with the Youth Institute.
Follow the risk management and personnel policies pertaining to the YMCA of Greater Long Beach and the YMCA Youth Institute as well as the agency involved.
Maintain a professional mature relationship with youth at all times.
Set a positive example for youth in the program.
Tutor high school youth with their homework and school work.
Connect technology skills with academic achievement for high school youth such as graphic design skills, film making skills, presentation skills, web design skills, digital music skills, and Internet research skills.
Keep all working areas clean and organized.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The qualified applicant will possess general knowledge in at least three of these areas in computer technology: Hardware / set up, take down, digital graphics (Adobe CS5), Digital Film Production / DV and Still Digital Camera use (DSLR), Internet Communication / Social Networking, Data Processing / Excel, Word Processing / Microsoft WORD, Movie Editing Software / iMovie, Final Cut, Music production Software / GarageBand, Reason, Logic, ProTOOLS, APPLE MacBook and IMac Computer use, Cinema 4D, AfterEffects, Web Design.
Must possess prior educational / recreational experience with middle and high school youth, be able to work in a demanding ever‑changing environment, willing to attend wilderness team‑building retreats. Must be a mature individual with a professional demeanor, positive example and role model for youth, be able to work in small and large groups both as a facilitator and a participant, must be able to communicate clearly with all parties.
Negative TB test.
Criminal Clearance including fingerprinting.
Must attend a new employee orientation within the first 90 days of employment.
Working Conditions
Environmental Factors: Indoor and outdoor facilities (e.g. childcare and recreational sites); exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Noise level is usually moderate.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
