VantageRock Equity Analyst

VantageRock Capital is the hedge fund strategy within Rockefeller's Asset Management business. VantageRock Capital is a fundamental-based, U.S. focused, multi-sector long/short equity hedge fund strategy. It typically runs with low net exposure and is focused on investing in stocks that it believes have asymmetric risk/reward and strong alpha generation. VantageRock is led by Avery Sheffield, and she and her team are focused on generating alpha and delivering compelling performance. VantageRock is seeking an Equity Analyst to join their growing team. We are looking for a candidate who has a deep curiosity about the world and a strong passion for investing. Candidates are required to have at least 2-4 years of experience as an Equity Research Analyst at either a sell-side research firm, hedge fund, or long-only investment firm. Prior experience in Industrials/Energy is required for this role. The Equity Analyst will work directly with co-founders Avery Sheffield and Dan Rosenthal as well as their team of Equity Analysts. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth fundamental research on companies and industries, interacting with company management teams and industry experts, attending conferences/conference calls and analyst meetings, carrying out quarterly earnings previews and post-quarter write-ups, writing up relevant news in the sector, conducting financial modeling and valuation analysis, generating high conviction conclusions and making investment recommendations, and connecting regularly with VantageRock co-founders and other colleagues in a collaborative manner. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree with strong academic performance, at least 2-4 years of experience as an Equity Research Analyst, and prior experience in Industrials/Energy. Skills include independent thinking, high level of curiosity, willingness to challenge conventional wisdom, openness to changing your mind, strong work ethic, demonstrated passion for investing in the stock market, strong analytical skills, effective communication skills, ability to work well in a small team environment, and exhibiting integrity, responsibility, empathy, enthusiasm, and proactivity. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $125,000 to $150,000. Base salary for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown. In addition, this role may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
