Executive Director
Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District, granite city, il, United States
The Six Mile Regional Library District (SMRLD) Board of Trustees seeks an Executive Director to lead our library district into the future. SMRLD is a unit of local government providing service to the residents of Granite City, Mitchell, and Pontoon Beach, Illinois. We work closely with the incorporated municipalities (City of Granite City, Village of Pontoon Beach) as well as local organizations (such as Granite City School and Park Districts, Southwestern Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and Southwest Illinois Community College) to focus on providing the community with education, information, and instruction to promote local vitality, history, and talent.
We are a progressive library that embraces new ideas and services. Situated just six miles from St. Louis, Missouri, we enjoy all the benefits of a “big city”: world-class amenities such as professional sports teams, symphony, theater, zoo, botanical gardens, museums, restaurants, travel access, universities, and more, while retaining our small town identity.
The SMRLD has two locations with plans to further engage the community through a bookmobile in the near future. With 8 professional librarians and a warm and welcoming staff totaling 34, the library provides physical and digital resources along with a variety of programming to serve a diverse community. SMRLD is looking towards the future and plans to expand the resources to the community, and we are looking for someone excited about taking on such an endeavor. We encourage interested individuals to take a closer look at the SMRLD team.
