We are seeking an experienced Director or Sales to lead our Away from Home Food Services Sales team.

This role is based out of Carmel, Indiana with 30-50% overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for achieving customer dollar volume, profitability, and related financial performance objectives for assigned Food Service team and book of business. Will also have managerial responsibility of a team of 5+ people.
  • Develop strong relationships with customer procurement, R&D, menu development, chefs, supply chain and senior management teams to identify new business opportunities, establish new customer relationships and deepen existing customer relationships to support achievement of short- and long-term corporate strategies and objectives.
  • Supports corporate planning, analysis, and budgetary process to achieve short- and long-term business objectives. Develops annual sales plans for account base and assigned FS plans to support corporate planning and budgeting process. Conducts planning, analysis, and modification of plans necessary to achieve yearly growth expectations.
  • Provides strategic insight to the development of strategic plans and activities to support achievement of annual objectives.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal and external cross-functional relationships necessary to achieve business objectives in a manner consistent with Heartland’s culture.
  • Continuously reviews market and account base to identify market or customer opportunities, competitive threats, or opportunities for new or different ways of doing business to meet customer needs and help achieve corporate objectives.
  • Shares market trends and opportunities so that appropriate corporate resources can be allocated to meet business needs or opportunities.
  • Manage and approve price quotes to meet division profit guidelines.
  • Thoroughly understand and initiate action to improve customer profitability through analysis, tracking, reporting and making recommendations.
  • Represents company favorably at trade association meetings to promote corporate goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directs subordinate managers as assigned. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Heartland’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Extensive Sales experience in the Away from Home Food Service Sector.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills mandatory. Including presentations, memos, emails, verbal, etc.
  • Comfort and experience with executive level communication and presentations (internal and external).
  • Internal cross-functional collaboration expertise required.
  • Supervisory experience required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ progressive sales experience within Food Service.
  • Must have advanced skills with syndicated data analysis, terminology, and reports.
