What You’ll Do
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is seeking an experienced BCI Special Agent for the Cyber Crime Unit of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI). The position is based in the London office with remote working options. BCI is Ohio’s official crime lab serving the criminal justice community, providing expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal agencies. Staff includes special agents on call 24/7, forensic scientists, and intelligence analysts, organized into Identifications, Investigations, and Laboratory divisions.

Duties

Serves as case agent responsible for overt/covert cyber‑oriented investigations.

Conducts forensic examinations of computers and data storage devices, using forensic techniques and analytical software.

Extracts data from mobile devices, employing data extraction and analytical methodologies.

Disassembles digital devices for on‑site data acquisition, previews devices, seizes media, and interviews subjects, victims, and witnesses.

Conducts raids, searches and surveillance.

Makes arrests.

Collects, evaluates, and forwards criminal intelligence information.

Submits investigative reports for criminal and/or administrative actions.

Works as liaison with local, state, federal and other law‑enforcement agencies.

Provides courtroom evidence and testifies.

Communicates with prosecuting attorneys.

Delivers speeches or presentations to specialized audiences or the public.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social sciences, computer science, computer forensics or a field commensurate with the Cyber Crime Unit.

At least 2 years of experience in cybercrime investigations with a law‑enforcement agency.

OPOTC peace officer certification or an equivalent peace officer certification (e.g., another state, another government agency, military) and a valid driver’s license.

OR 2 years’ experience as a BCI investigator.

OR an equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment listed above.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with X‑ways, FTK, Encase forensic platforms; familiarity with Cellebrite UFED/Physical Analyzer, Magnet Forensics Axiom, or similar data‑extraction tools. Understanding of executing search warrants for digital devices under state law or online accounts pursuant to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.

$37.34/hr – $52.64/hr

Schedule
