Mechanical Designer – HVAC
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer – HVAC to join our team at IMEG in either Idaho Falls, ID or Sacramento, CA. The role involves working with experienced engineers and consultants to deliver engineering solutions for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in the vertical building industry.
Principal Responsibilities
Complete assigned engineering tasks of low to moderate complexity, including design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
Assist in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives.
Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.
Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
Prioritize safety, identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
Required Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts for technical plans and specifications.
Strong analytical skills in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics related to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software and other industry-standard engineering software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Proficiency in BIM software.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum one year of experience in the building design consulting industry.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Compensation and Benefits
State of California Salary Range: $77,000 – $95,000 (minimums and maximums may vary based on location). Pay is based on experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
