Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role based in Tucson, AZ, for a Deputy Public Defender. The Deputy Public Defender will provide legal representation to clients in criminal cases, which includes preparing legal documents, conducting investigations, negotiating plea agreements, and defending clients in court. Additional responsibilities include providing legal advice to clients, collaborating with other legal professionals, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Expertise in Law and Criminal Law, including the ability to interpret and apply legal principles and precedents
Proven experience in Criminal Defense and handling cases in various Courts
Competency in offering Legal Assistance to clients and navigating legal procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and interact effectively with diverse populations
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and membership in good standing with a Bar Association
Familiarity or experience working in indigenous or tribal legal systems is a plus
