Architectural Representative

Position Summary
The Commercial Architectural Representative creates, develops, and maintains business relationships with the architectural community within an assigned territory. The role assists with obtaining product specifications, promoting and selling product portfolios while possessing technical knowledge to ensure success on Pella relevant projects. The role also works to increase brand awareness through networking with relevant organizations while also serving as a liaison to cross‑functional internal teams (Marketing, Sales, Architectural Solutions) to improve the overall customer experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Generate architectural project specifications, secure Pella product relevant details on project plans, perform Salesforce lead‑hand offs, and engage in continuing education opportunities while achieving maximum market penetration.

Design and implement “key account” action plans that identify opportunities, increase sales revenue, improve client relationships and increase market share.

Obtain, update, and demonstrate detailed industry, company, and competitor product knowledge.

Develop long‑term mutually beneficial relationships with architects, designers, specifiers, general contractors, and relevant organizations.

Provide technical product information, perform product demonstrations and accredited AIA/CES presentations to create awareness around Pella’s value proposition and design capabilities.

Attend networking events with relevant organizations, associations, and specifying community groups.

Review construction plans and specification documents.

Utilize Salesforce (CRM) to effectively manage accounts, contacts, lead generation, opportunities, tasks/events, and organizational data.

Understand commercial and residential building codes (preferred).

Collaborate with the Commercial team to develop project pipelines when deemed appropriate by your manager.

Additional Responsibilities

Use creativity to achieve and exceed set targets and goals.

Volunteer for committees and assignments, both internally and in external organizations.

Assist with set up and coordination of area home and garden shows; work the Pella Mid‑Atlantic booth during shows (weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, mornings, afternoons, and evenings).

Host educational workshops, box lunches, and relationship‑building events for clients.

Achieve weekly specification, project lead, and sales expectations.

Achieve monthly and annual specification, project lead, and sales quotas.

Collaborate with teams and individuals to assist in revenue generation.

Consistent growth in project specification volume and improvement in other defined measurable outcomes.

Follow established sales procedures and code of ethics.

Qualifications

High‑school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

Five or more years of outside sales, architecture, and/or construction design experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Effectively handle architectural firms, specifiers, designers, and customer concerns.

Ability to measure and read a tape measure.

Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and architectural plans/drawings.

Knowledge of building code preferred.

Calculate measurements in feet & inches, temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, and dew point with calculator or by hand.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including correspondence with architects, specifiers, designers, customers, and coworkers; able to collect information from various sources, comprehend and summarize data in new documents or presentations.

Ability to professionally engage 1–20+ people during a presentation (public speaking).

Ability to visualize concepts and products and explain them orally to the specifying community, customer, and/or coworker.

Ability to negotiate or persuade an architect, designer and/or customer to desired outcome.

Complete complicated paper and electronic forms.

Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, design software platforms, and Salesforce.

Organize own priorities and follow own schedule; handle many open responsibilities at once.

Physical Requirements

Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull objects >50 lb. using safe lifting techniques.

Climb steps, stairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc. (including no fear of heights).

Drive on public roads.

Use measuring devices such as tape measure.

Visually examine or inspect material.

Deal with employees, customers, or supplies in high‑stress situations.

Occasionally work in areas that may be unpleasant due to extreme temperatures, odors, noise, dirt, dust or other conditions.

Work with little to no supervision.
