Senior Business Relationship Specialist (BRS)

This role is dedicated to enhancing lives, fulfilling dreams, and building communities through expert-level financial consultation, relationship development, and mentorship with an emphasis on business accounts, products, and services.

The Senior Business Relationship Specialist (Sr. BRS) serves as an advanced, trusted financial professional with the knowledge and authority to manage complex business structures, mentor peers, and deliver sophisticated financial solutions for business account needs. The position supports a robust portfolio of various lending and account types, including Commercial and Industrial lending, Commercial Real Estate lending, Private Banking, Business Banking, SBA, IOLTA, IRETA, property management, and trust accounts. The Sr. BRS provides advanced financial education and tailored recommendations, leveraging a deep understanding of credit union products, policies, and business member needs. Working in partnership with Business Services Relationship Officers, the Sr. BRS proactively engages business member and applicant relationships through meaningful financial conversations, identifying opportunities and strengthening long-term relationships through tailored guidance and coordinated solutions.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Business Services member relationship strategist, supporting relationship officers in partnership to manage and expand a portfolio of consumer, business, and high‑value memberships.

Partner with Relationship Officers to educate business members and applicants on available credit products, account options, and related services, and refer to specialized partners as appropriate.

Participate in business member and prospect calls as requested to provide operational support and subject‑matter expertise, ensuring a high level of member service and continuity of support as a secondary point of contact.

Perform core business account opening/maintenance functions and independently open and service specialty and complex business accounts, such as shells, IOLTA, IRETA, property‑management, and Tenancy in Commons (TIC) accounts.

Support loan application processing on an as‑needed basis, including member contact, documentation collection, coordination of loan closings (including title work when applicable), and communication of application outcomes.

Coordinate the collection, review, and tracking of business financial documentation in alignment with loan requirements, partnering with the relationship officer and credit teams to support analysis and portfolio management.

Possess strong knowledge of business account and lending principles and documentation; collaborate with underwriters, loan specialists, leadership, and relationship officers to facilitate account approvals.

Provide operational support and act as a subject‑matter expert on policies, compliance, and risk controls.

Support and guide BRS staff by mentoring, skills development, and coaching on advanced sales and business account techniques.

Troubleshoot complex business member issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

Perform core business deposit servicing functions while also managing specialized and exception‑based requests, including rate adjustments, large dollar hold releases, and fee waivers that require advanced knowledge and handling.

Maintain knowledge and adhere to all BSA regulations and compliance standards on internal and external policies, including Beneficial Ownership and Member Identification Program standards.

Ensure business account documentation is compliant with Numerica Credit Union and regulatory policies and guidelines, including verifying original loan documents that have been returned and recorded appropriately.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no formal, direct supervisory responsibilities, although it works with leaders and peers to drive results.

Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED; plus five or more years of experience in opening and servicing retail and/or business accounts at a credit union, bank, or other financial institution. A basic understanding of commercial credits is preferred, along with a thorough understanding of Symitar.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
Notary Public License is required; it may be obtained after acceptance of the position.

Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills; evaluate complex scenarios and make sound decisions.

Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and core systems such as Symitar.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and sit or stand for extended periods.
