Job Overview We are seeking a detail‑oriented tax analyst skilled in data, systems, and accounting to support U.S. tax compliance, accounting, and audit activities for both indirect and direct tax. The role is hands‑on, high‑learning, and will require working within Vertex and SAP environments.

What You Will Do – Indirect Tax (Primary Focus)

Prepare and support filing of U.S. state and local sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions

Maintain and validate exemption certificates, ensuring accurate and timely updates in Vertex

Support sales and use tax audits, including data gathering, documentation, and audit tracking

Assist in maintaining taxability logic across products, services, and transactions

Analyze tax data from Vertex and SAP, ensuring completeness and accuracy

Manage the KONE Tax Mailbox, ensuring timely and accurate responses to internal inquiries

Prepare clear and concise guidance on tax‑related topics for internal stakeholders

Assist in maintaining tax matrices for sales and purchases across the business

Direct Tax (Supporting Role)

Support preparation of income tax filings, including federal, state, and local returns

Prepare and process tax payments, including extensions and estimated payments, while maintaining tax calendar tracking

Organize and prepare data for external advisors and internal stakeholders

Assist in responding to tax notices and inquiries

Maintain records and tracking of all income tax filings and related documentation

Tax Accounting & Reconciliation

Prepare and support reconciliation of tax‑related balance sheet accounts (sales tax payable, use tax accruals, income tax accounts, etc.)

Assist with month‑end close activities, including journal entries and account analysis

Reconcile Vertex vs SAP outputs and flag discrepancies for review

Maintain supporting schedules, workpapers, and audit‑ready documentation

Support tax provision and reporting processes

Systems, Controls & Process Support

Work with Vertex and SAP to extract, validate, and analyze tax data

Support system testing, data validation, and process improvements

Maintain organized, audit‑ready documentation and records

Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and controls in tax processes

What We’re Looking For

3–5 years of experience in tax, accounting, or related roles

Experience with sales and use tax compliance preferred

Exposure to income tax or tax accounting is a plus

Experience with Vertex (or similar tax engine) and ERP systems (SAP preferred)

Strong Excel skills; exposure to data tools (e.g., Alteryx) is a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax; CPA (or pursuing) is a plus

Salary The hiring range for this role in Lisle, IL is $93,400 – $122,640. For Moline, IL: $83,000 – $109,000. For Allen, TX: $87,300 – $115,000.

Variable Compensation KONE offers an annual bonus plan at 10% target incentive.
