Responsibilities As a Traveling Outside Plant Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end‑to‑end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right, being the best, and you’re up for the challenge. This role requires expertise in large‑count ribbon fiber splicing and testing. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of our fiber optic networks, ensuring high‑quality connections and reliable performance.
Perform large count ribbon fiber splicing in both outdoor and indoor environments
Conduct optical testing and troubleshooting using appropriate testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.)
Collaborate with installation crews to plan and execute installation projects efficiently
Follow industry best practices for fiber handling, splicing, and testing
Ensure work complies with safety standards and regulations
Document all splicing and testing results accurately for project records
Assist in the design and implementation of fiber optic network infrastructure
Provide training and guidance to junior technicians as needed
Travel to various job sites as required, often with short notice
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Work in outdoor utility construction sites
Qualifications About You:

You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands‑on approach to your work
You are looking for long‑term projects
You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime
High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in fiber optics preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in outside plant fiber splicing, with a focus on large count ribbon fiber
Proven experience with fiber splicing tools and testing equipment
Strong understanding of fiber optic network design and installation
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and physical environments
OSHA 10 certification and railroad right‑of‑way experience are a plus
Fiber engineering knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, and understanding of light levels and dB loss, are required
Compensation Compensation of $27‑$38 per hour.
