WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Under direct supervision, this role inspects, estimates, negotiates, and evaluates 1st and 3rd party auto physical damage claims—both personal and commercial. The claim types include collision, comprehensive, property damage, rental, towing, fire, theft, flood, lightning, diminished value, and claims involving injuries. The applicant works 100% remotely, with occasional travel to vehicle locations. The position does not lead others.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact, process explanation, expectation setting, ongoing communication, and follow‑through.
Effectively manage work assignments and promptly travel to the vehicle/equipment location as needed.
Scope claims using technical expertise and information gathered to determine physical claim value with recognized resources, estimating, and evaluation software.
Establish physical damage claim values and prepare accurate vehicle/equipment damage appraisals, actual cash and replacement values per regulatory and corporate guidelines.
Partner with the assigned Claim Professional from investigation through final recovery, ensuring appropriate claim resolution and pursuit of alternative recovery sources.
Negotiate claims with customers and/or repair facilities, leveraging appropriate resources to achieve value agreements, including required payments.
Determine settlement amounts for applicable total loss claims, including coverages and deductibles.
Convey claim settlements within authority, initiate payments to customers, and manage total loss, rental reimbursement, etc.
Assist all lines of business and departments with inspection assistance as needed, including catastrophe response.
Analyze coverage, apply policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements to 1st party auto damage claims.
Conduct damage management, manage the repair process, and maintain appropriate claim and expense reserves.
Develop and update a plan of action, maintain an effective diary to manage vehicle repairs for timely resolution.
Communicate claim damage assessment following negotiation of value with repair facilities and obtain authorization to initiate payments.
Participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, including deployment away for a minimum of 16 days and travel days to assist customers in other states.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Technical School Degree.
State appraiser and claim-handling licenses (where applicable).
Two years of auto appraisal experience preferred; prior experience with an insurance carrier.
Strong technical background in auto repair, repair techniques, terminology, and construction.
Thorough knowledge of claims appraisal systems and overall claim operations; Windows proficiency, including Excel and Word.
Strong mathematical and negotiation skills; demonstrated ownership attitude and customer‑centric response.
Teamwork skills and ability to remain current on jurisdictional laws and regulations.
Commitment to continuous education.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School/GED.
