Job Description

At the direction of the Manager, the Relationship Banker creates exceptional customer experiences by engaging clients with excellent customer service while guiding them to understand how digital and mobile alternatives can complete their banking transactions quickly and efficiently. The Relationship Banker also introduces and sells financial services to meet customers’ short and long term needs, as identified by profiling and knowledge of products and services. In addition, the Relationship Banker processes various financial transactions for clients, balances own cash, and assists with vault, ATM cash recycler, and armored car duties.

Responsibilities

Helps lead the overall branch client experience. Proactively engages existing and prospective clients to understand and interact with 21st century banking advancements by demonstrating transactions using technology, creating interest, and handling objections. This includes providing exceptional customer service, managing branch activity flow, assessing and fulfilling client needs, handling and resolving complaints, and escalating unfulfilled client concerns to the appropriate branch or department. Maintains and sells financial services to clients by addressing both long-term and short-term goals through profiling. Identifies customer needs, maintains knowledge of products and services, cross-sells, opens new accounts, calls on prospects, and performs teleconsulting.

Actively sells financial products and services, making referrals as appropriate. Interviews, processes applications, and closes for all consumer credit products. Provides high level of quality service to customers. Processes a wide range of financial transactions including cashing checks, deposits, withdrawals, payments, cashier’s checks and traveler’s checks. Balances cash. Opens and closes the vault. Performs duties related to ATM, Vault, Cash recycler, and armored car transactions. Trains new employees on operational procedures.

Identifies and secures new high and/or potentially high-value consumer clients. Coordinates calling efforts, manages referrals, sales tracking, and prospecting to achieve personal sales goals and contribute to team goals. Trains new employees on sales procedures. Maintains contact with customers and prospects, makes appreciation calls, and participates in promotion and marketing of the Bank and its products and services.

Keeps informed of current bank policies, procedures, federal laws and regulations and maintains strong knowledge of new products, programs, and promotions.

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry. If not registered, registration must be completed and accepted within 30 days of employment or transfer date. If not registered and accepted, employment may be terminated.

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Minimum 3 years of experience in consumer sales, marketing, and/or customer service or equivalent work experience. Banking and financial services experience preferred. Experience should include demonstrated success in a retail banking environment and the ability to advance skills in personal finance including investments, insurance, mortgage, and small business products and services.

Proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems including PC Teller, CIS, and check imprinter.

Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to think critically, be analytical, detail-oriented and organized. Effective team player with sales, marketing, customer service, and negotiation skills. Able to meet deadlines and priorities, and follow up consistently. Physical ability to push a 100 lb cash cart and lift approximately 20-25 pounds; stand for extended periods. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required or assigned.
