Code Management Administrator

Responsibilities

Coordinate and administer enterprise code workflows to ensure consistent branching, merging, and traceability across teams.
Maintain and optimize repository structures, access patterns, naming conventions, and documentation standards to support scalable development.
Support automated build and deployment processes by configuring and validating pipelines, triggers, and environment promotion rules.
Oversee release processes including preparation, versioning alignment, tagging practices, and release candidate management.
Enable secure collaboration by managing permissions, access controls, and role‑based policies for repositories and related artifacts.
Promote software quality through review enablement by facilitating review policies, required checks, and coding workflow standards.
Troubleshoot integration and pipeline issues by analyzing logs, validating configuration, and working with engineering teams to resolve blockers.
Provide operational support for source control tools including backup/restore verification, repository health checks, and change management.
Drive process improvements by identifying bottlenecks in development delivery and recommending enhancements to governance and automation.
Administer and maintain repositories by creating, migrating, reorganizing, and validating repository configurations to meet team needs.
Implement and enforce workflow policies for branching models, merge methods, required checks, and review gates.
Configure CI/CD pipeline standards including build rules, test execution expectations, artifact handling, and environment promotion logic.
Manage release coordination activities such as preparing release branches, applying tags, supporting release notes workflows, and ensuring version consistency.
Oversee access and security controls by setting permissions, managing group membership, and ensuring least‑privilege access.
Facilitate code review and quality assurance by setting up review tooling requirements and ensuring automated checks are correctly enforced.
Monitor system health and performance for code services, addressing failures and preventing recurring pipeline or repository disruptions.
Conduct audits and compliance checks for repository activity, ensuring proper traceability, retention alignment, and governance adherence.
Respond to escalations and incidents related to source control, integration failures, or release blockers with timely mitigation.
Lead change management for tooling updates including version upgrades, configuration changes, and communication plans.
Provide guidance and training to engineering teams on effective workflows, release practices, and troubleshooting steps.
Qualifications & Experience

Proven experience administering version control systems with strong working knowledge of modern branching and merging strategies.
Demonstrated proficiency with Git‑based workflows including repository management, tags, history considerations, and conflict resolution patterns.
Hands‑on experience managing CI/CD integrations including pipeline configuration, build validation, and release orchestration support.
Experience with repository governance such as access control, audit practices, and enforcement of development standards.
Strong understanding of code review practices including automated checks, review requirements, and consistent merge policies.
Familiarity with release management practices such as versioning strategy, release candidates, and coordination across teams.
Ability to diagnose and remediate automation failures using logs and configuration review while minimizing downtime.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with engineers, DevOps teams, and stakeholders.
Experience documenting processes and maintaining runbooks to ensure repeatable and auditable outcomes.
Capability to operate effectively in a hybrid environment while supporting distributed teams and time‑sensitive releases.
