Position Overview
As a Senior Paralegal, you’re responsible and accountable for supporting the Executive Vice President – General Counsel by reviewing, preparing, filing, and maintaining legal documents. You’ll coordinate and organize purchase contracts and earnest money deposits, review and coordinate title and survey, manage and coordinate due diligence for closings, coordinate closing execution and filing, and oversee filing requirements for all corporate entities. You’ll also respond to requests from development staff and outside entities to keep projects moving forward efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities
Review title and survey and coordinate with the title company, surveyor, and financial partners
Coordinate the execution and filing of closing documents
Prepare and file organizational documents, deeds, and other legal documents
Track purchase contract deadlines and the return of earnest money deposits
Manage and coordinate the due diligence process for closings, including posting items to the due diligence website and working with financial and legal partners regarding due diligence
Oversee filing requirements for all corporate entities
Support additional legal and administrative needs as assigned
Qualifications
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred
Paralegal Certificate
2 to 3 years of real estate experience
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to succeed in this role
Skills and Knowledge You’ll Use
Language skills: Ability to read, write, interpret, and analyze business publications, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write and interpret reports, correspondence, and manuals. Ability to effectively present to groups including employees, vendors, and the general public.
Math skills: Ability to calculate discounts, interest, bonuses, proportions, and percentages, and apply concepts of algebra and geometry.
Reasoning skills: Ability to solve problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only general guidelines exist. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer skills: Intermediate experience with MS Office
