Essential Functions
As a sworn armed peace officer, serve as a Gaming Special Agent Trainee for twelve (12) months, participating in a mandatory accredited police academy training program and fitness trainings including firearms and professional fitness.
Receive on‑the‑job training and instruction on the Illinois Gambling Act, Sports Wagering Act, State Fair Gaming Act, and other statutes under which the Board has jurisdiction.
Process casino and video gaming applications for licenses.
Review and monitor compliance with gaming regulations related to cash counts, chip inventories, payoff percentages of electronic gaming devices, and filing of federal cash transaction reports.
Perform other duties as required or assigned, reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in criminal justice, law enforcement, pre‑law, or business administration.
Successfully complete the firearms qualification course within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
Successfully complete a basic law enforcement training program at an accredited police academy within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
Conditions of Employment
Pass the Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation.
At the time of hire, possess sufficient physical fitness to pass the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test.
At the time of hire, hold a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.
Perform shift work, including weekends and holidays.
Work overtime as required, including scheduled, unscheduled, or last‑minute overtime, often in evenings and weekends.
Travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate, and possess a valid driver’s license.
Comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act regarding ownership interests in publicly traded companies related to gaming.
Comply with the Illinois Gambling Act regarding relationships with operators or organizations engaged in gambling or horse racing.
Comply with restrictions related to prior employment with the Board or related entities within the past year.
