
Mid-Level Civil Designer -- S&L Consulting

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.
SLC works on behalf of clients to support utility‑scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal power, and other power and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on evaluating and optimizing technical, commercial, environmental, social responsibility, and financial aspects of projects.
This position will support clients in the development stage of projects and work with teams of consultants. You will use creativity and innovation to produce preliminary civil design deliverables up to a 30% design phase for renewable energy (solar and wind) battery storage, and thermal projects using CAD software.
Responsibilities
Independently interpret and coordinate topographical data to plan and execute preliminary civil design deliverables.
Prepare constraint maps identifying buildable area of projects using input from field surveys, FEMA flood map information, and applicable rights‑of‑way.
Prepare 30% design phase civil layout drawings and grading design, including roads, ditches, drainage ponds, finish surfacing plans, permanent fencing plans, traffic control plans, and erosion control plans, while investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of preliminary civil design issues.
Support solar energy yield assessments by preparing shading scene models.
Provide support to SLC project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
Qualifications
Must be authorized to work in the United States; the company does not sponsor work visas.
Associates Degree in Computer‑Aided Design Technology or equivalent experience; CAD certificate required for non‑degreed candidates.
Previous relevant experience considered.
Three or more years of design experience in the development of civil design drawings.
Experience in the review of civil layout drawings for all phases of grading, regrading, and final grading.
Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.
Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD.
Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models (Bentley Microstation, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Navisworks, ArcGIS/Globalmapper).

$54,420.00 - $78,410.00. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, and may include eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus.
