The Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) helps students make the most of their college experience outside the classroom through student organizations, leadership programs, and campus events.

Position
The Student Involvement and Leadership Center Involvement Ambassador provides front desk and administrative support for the SILC team and the student organization co-working space. This role is often the first impression a student, staff member, alumnus, or community member has of our office.

Responsibilities

Assist with registered student organization management, including using beINvolved and marketing events.

Learn about resources and opportunities for student involvement through SILC programs and resources.

Help students navigate involvement opportunities and assist student organizations with basic event planning processes and policies; provide access to training and leadership opportunities.

Serve as the front-line resource for students and student organizations; assist with facilities management and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, managing the departmental email, and coordinating mail delivery to the department and student organizations.

Education

Required: Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

Work Experience

Required: 1 year of experience in a customer service role

Preferred: Experience working in an office setting

Skills

Required: Detail oriented and well organized

Required: Excellent customer service skills

Required: Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately

Required: Outstanding organizational skills

Preferred: Working knowledge of IU systems and policies; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; familiarity with beINvolved; involvement in one or more student organizations; excellent communication across mediums

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and operate a computer and standard office equipment. The position involves sedentary work and periods of movement around an office and campus. The role requires the ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation. Some evening and weekend availability is required to support events and departmental programming.

Location and Compensation
This is an in-person, work-study eligible position in Bloomington, Indiana. The position offers:

Pay: $12.00 per hour

Hours: 8–10 hours per week

Start: Beginning in May; ongoing through current term
