
Loan Underwriter

Job Summary
The Loan Underwriter is an essential member of the lending team, responsible for evaluating and determining the creditworthiness of loan applicants. This role plays a vital part in the loan approval process by reviewing both financial and non-financial factors to assess whether applicants meet established lending criteria. The underwriter partners closely with loan officers, borrowers, and internal stakeholders to ensure applications are thoroughly analyzed and decisions align with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Application Review
Evaluate loan applications and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility
Review credit histories, financial statements, income verification, and other relevant materials to assess risk
Determine applicant creditworthiness using established underwriting standards and guidelines
Identify and evaluate potential risks associated with each loan request and make appropriate recommendations
Perform detailed analysis of income, expenses, assets, and liabilities to assess repayment capacity
Compliance
Ensure all applications adhere to applicable lending regulations and internal policies
Remain current on regulatory updates and industry best practices
Documentation & Recordkeeping
Maintain accurate, thorough records of underwriting decisions and supporting documentation
Prepare detailed underwriting reports for each application
Communication
Collaborate with loan officers and relevant parties to obtain additional information or clarify details
Clearly communicate underwriting decisions and supporting rationale
Decision Making
Approve or deny loan applications based on comprehensive credit analysis and risk evaluation
Work closely with loan processing teams to support an efficient application workflow
Partner with departments such as credit risk and legal to resolve complex or unique cases
Team Collaboration

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
