Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Front Office at Art Ovation Hotel Sarasota serves as the primary manager on duty when senior leadership is unavailable. This role oversees Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Front Drive operations, ensuring seamless guest experiences and upholding the hotel's service standards.

Responsibilities

Manage and lead Front Desk and Front Drive teams, including interviewing, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.

Ensure smooth daily operations, proactively resolve guest requests, and maintain maximum customer satisfaction while following company policies.

Monitor staff schedules, conduct regular hotel walks for maintenance checks, and support employees in meeting and exceeding guest expectations.

Handle and resolve customer complaints promptly and courteously, providing personalized assistance for inquiries about hotel services, events, and directions.

Coordinate guest arrivals, departures, and billing, blocking rooms as needed and addressing discrepancies for a seamless experience.

Act quickly and effectively during emergencies or safety situations, safeguarding the well‑being of guests and employees.

Efficiently check guests in and out, assign rooms, manage keys, settle bills, and plan for upcoming arrivals and departures.

Utilize computer systems, including Opera PMS and Marriott‑Empower (GXP), to process registrations, run reports, manage requests, and monitor Front Drive operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality education or experience preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with guests, associates, and external partners.

Ability to work well under pressure and respond swiftly to emergency situations.

Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as OSHA and ADA.

Strong customer‑service orientation, remaining professional and courteous in difficult situations.

Preferred: Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Valid driver’s license with a clean record and ability to operate vehicles such as hotel shuttle vans.

Physical capability to stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for long periods.

Proficiency in computer systems, particularly Opera PMS and Marriott‑Empower (GXP).

Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively, including using surveillance monitors and two‑way radios.
