Dive into the inaugural year of the SeaWorld San Diego Summer Internship Program, an exciting new opportunity designed to give students meaningful, real‑world experience in a dynamic theme park environment. As this inaugural year launches, interns will play an important role in shaping a program that will grow for years to come. Internships are open to undergraduate students who are currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university.
What You Get To Do
Review and manage incoming community relation requests
Lead all administrative tasks around community relations
Manage and update database of community relations contacts, including developing new contact lists
Create and execute a community relations strategy with a focus on public and private school outreach, environmental, animal care and sustainability focused organizations, public interest groups for SeaWorld San Diego and Sesame Place San Diego
Manage ticket inventory and ordering for community relations. Support new campaigns through proactive media outreach across print, broadcast, and online outlets across family, travel, lifestyle, consumer, targeted trade outlets
Media monitoring and reporting
Support influencer programs by researching and building new relationships
Coordinate logistics and support influencer visits
Assist with social media photography and videography as needed
Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors and our Guests
Perform other duties as assigned.
Occasionally assist other locations and areas in the park as needed.
What It Takes To Succeed
Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to read, write and speak English.
Strong ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from team members, customers, regulatory agencies, or contractors.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and SAP.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
Ability to ensure accurate follow‑through on all aspects of contract compliance in accordance with corporate legal and capital project controls and procedures.
What Else Is Important
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 18 years old
Current enrollment in an undergraduate course in public relations, communications, or in a similar field.
Must have a passion for public relations, community relations, great attitude, and eager to learn.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods in various weather conditions.
Consistently practices safe work habits, including using personal protective equipment and lifting safety protocols.
Willing to comply with all organizational grooming guidelines and employment standards.
Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a park license.
Hours Up to 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday with weekends & holidays as needed.
Availability Must have 5 days of open availability, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation $18/hr.
