
CPW Website Content Specialist (MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST III).

Position Overview
This role serves as a web content architect and member of the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) web team. The person will organize digital content, create CMS structure, metadata, taxonomy, and oversee emerging technologies on the CPW website. The role supports communications strategy, improves user experience, and enhances search engine optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with the CPW web team, Content Strategist, Communications Supervisor, staff SMEs, and Executive Management to plan, update, and maintain website content.
Act as the subject‑matter expert for integrating new technologies into the Drupal site, working with the Business Tech team and vendors.
Translate scientific and technical content into clear, plain‑language web material that is accurate, accessible (WCAG), and optimized for search.
Analyze communication needs of other sections, develop solutions within the agency website standards, and support outreach and awareness goals.
Attend team meetings, serve as liaison for web projects, prioritize tasks, cover teammates during leave, and present on website strategy.

Minimum Qualifications
Six (6) years of relevant experience in Communications, Computer Science, Applied Computing, Computer Engineering, or IT, with at least one year at an enterprise‑level CMS.
Combination of related education and experience equal to six years with one year of enterprise‑level CMS expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
Current or former State experience relevant to this position.
Master’s degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, business administration, or related field.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Applications (Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere, etc.).
Required Competencies
Strong organizational, time‑management, and multi‑tasking skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in Drupal or similar CMS, Digital Asset Management, WCAG compliance, Asana, HTML, CSS, Google Suite.
Conditions of Employment
State of Colorado residency required at time of application.
Occasional travel for meetings, conferences, workshops.
Compliance with the DNR‑120 Fleet and Driving Standards; driver’s license and safe driving record required for State‑owned vehicle use.
Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) will be reviewed for those with assigned or required fleet vehicles.
