The commercial Playground Division of Weldit Metalworks Inc: (Playit Creations), is seeking a talented Mechanical/Industrial Design Engineer to join our team of talented creators and fabricators.

Position Details & Expectations

Expected to perform a wide range of tasks across the life cycle of project creation (from 2D drafting, prototyping, and revisions, to accurate 3D models & functional shop drawings for fabrication)

Ideal candidate is somebody that has 2+ years of experience in mechanical, industrial, or structural design, engineering or equivalent.

This is an area of growth in our company and are open to implementing new technologies and techniques, but the candidate must have a strong understanding of both 2D & 3D CAD programs

AutoCAD (2D Drafting - Preferred)

SolidWorks (3D - Preferred; but Autodesk Fusion 360 would also be great.)

3DS Max (3D - Preferred)

Google Sketchup will not be accepted

Applicant must have a humble, consistently positive attitude and be eager to work respectfully and harmoniously in a team environment.

Has a basic understanding of working with custom metal fabrication, production processes and manufacturing techniques (required).

Duties & Responsibilities

Use sound design principles and best‑practice CAD methods while working on projects and creating documentation.

Efficiently balance several projects at once, being able to pivot when necessary.

Help to design & develop products that meet cost and timeline needs.

Create accurate 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.

Create documentation that can be used to fabricate products with very little explanation/oversight on the manufacturing floor.

Work closely with Sales, Marketing and New Product Development to coordinate new products and understand product designs.

Able to functionally Project Manage, providing real‑time reporting of assigned project progress.

Develop and maintain an organized CAD block library of Plan view and Elevation CAD blocks based upon renderings created in the Design Department.

Create 3D structural frames using AutoCAD or similar software based on design parameters.

Create plan view layouts by utilizing pre‑designed CAD blocks and creating custom made blocks on‑demand.

Verify product design accuracy based upon specifications, codes, and other regulations.

A general knowledge of basic construction methods and manufacturing is expected.

Create and maintain a library of Product Manufacturing’s drawing job folders.

Requirements

Fluent with AutoCAD 2D and a commonly used 3D CAD program, such as Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Autodesk 3DS Max

Fluent with Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

Must be experienced with Microsoft Office including basic Excel

Must be organized and detail oriented.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial design (or similar), or Technical School with successful experience.

Must always maintain confidentiality.

Ability to work independently without becoming distracted or wasting time.

Ability to locate and process data efficiently and with a sense of urgency.

Ability to work on a PC.

Proficient problem‑solving skills, writing skills, and math skills.

Expected to work 40+ hours per week.
