Job Description
OPEN UNTIL FILLED AFTER 5 DAY REQUIRED POSTING
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Direct and manage the district’s professional learning program. Ensure that the learning and delivery of training programs for administrators, teachers, professionals, and all support staff, both instructional and noninstructional is effective and efficient, incorporates district goals, and supports student achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in education, human resources, organizational learning, or related field
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Preferred – Valid Texas principal’s certificate/mid-management certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Knowledge of professional learning programs and adult learning strategies
Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Demonstrated skill in project planning and implementation of training programs
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Work Conditions:
Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Prolonged sitting; standing, walking, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Repetitive hand motions including prolonged keyboarding & use of mouse; occasional reaching
Occasional lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)
Work with frequent interruptions; must maintain professional demeanor under stress; must have problem solving skills; occasional irregular hours
Frequent in district travel, occasional out of district travel
Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience
5 years classroom teacher experience
3 years instructional leadership experience
3 years’ experience developing and delivering training programs to adult learners
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Professional Learning and Program Management
Oversee the learning and delivery of professional learning programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement. Develop long-range plan of professional learning to further the district vision.
Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district’s goals and objectives. Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.
Monitor and evaluate professional learning programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers, participants, and principals, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
Secure consultants, specialists, and other community resources to deliver training programs.
Ensure availability of time, resources, materials, and technology to support accomplishment of education goals.
Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives.
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
Develop and administer the professional learning budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
Policy, Reports, and Law
Facilitate learning of district and campus reports related to progress on professional learning courses of study.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for educators including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
Other duties as assigned.
