Job Summary
Biltmore’s Social Media & Public Relations Coordinator supports the company’s social media presence and public relations initiatives, ensuring a consistent brand voice and world-class hospitality across all channels. This role equally contributes to social media strategy as well as public relations, press outreach, and reputation management efforts. The ideal candidate is passionate about social media, influencer marketing, public relations & partnerships.
This full-time position reports directly to the Social Media Manager, with shared responsibilities reporting to the Senior Public Relations Manager, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic goals, ensuring world class hospitality and consistent brand voice.
Essential Job Duties
Social Media (50%)
Monitor owned channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn), interact with digital communities and guests for brand stewardship, guest recovery and support, act as a liaison to Biltmore fan groups and pages online
Social performance monitoring and analytics reporting
Collaboration with Content Specialist, cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders to create social content for assigned accounts and/or platforms
Support live-streaming, Q&A sessions, and other social community engagement activities
Sourcing of high-quality user-generated content
Social media influencer planning and coordination
Identify trademark risks or impersonation profiles for removal
Support other social media tasks as needed
Public Relations (50%)
Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries; respond to routine requests in a timely and professional manner
Assist in planning and facilitating press events, media visit itineraries, and on-site media shoots, including logistical coordination
Research and maintain targeted media lists to support proactive outreach efforts
Occasionally draft press releases & pitches, media advisories, and other PR materials as needed
Support with writing and development of background press materials, talking points, and briefing documents
Update and maintain the online press room on Biltmore.com
Report on media coverage and PR performance metrics
Support Communications department with the execution of effective emergency communications and community sentiment monitoring as needed
Support other media relations tasks as needed
Qualifications
A two-year college degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field is required. Additional education, training, and or certification(s) would be helpful. A four-year degree in the fields listed above is preferred.
At least two (2) years of relevant experience working with social media and/or public relations marketing for business, ideally in an agency or corporate environment.
Strong understanding of the business use and best practices for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other social media channels.
Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world-class internal and external customer/guest service.
Experience preparing materials and responding to media inquiries on behalf of a business.
Experience with business content creation (copy and basic graphic design) for social. Work samples strongly encouraged for consideration.
Experience preferred with relevant tools such as Canva, Cision, WordPress, and Microsoft Office applications.
Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
Excellent organizational, planning, time, and project management skills. Detail-oriented and able to effectively manage multiple deadlines.
Prior experience with aggregating social media and public relations analytics preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a corporate environment.
Independent Decision Making
Frequently responsible for finding, reviewing, and prioritizing influencers/ content collaborators and journalists that align with Biltmore’s brand.
Often makes informed decisions during active situations (events, announcements, or crisis response).
Frequently monitor media coverage and social sentiment, making judgments on community engagement, guest recovery, and responses.
Occasionally escalating reputational risks when appropriate and flag outside accounts for trademark violations.
Physical Requirements
Full-time, hourly
Eligible for hybrid (3 days in office) work arrangement.
Works primarily in an office setting.
May lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
The incumbent will participate in tours, events, and activities that require a substantial amount of moving about for extended periods of time, and may ascend and descend stairs in historic structures/locations on the historic estate.
