Overview
The Sales & Marketing Coordinator (SMC) is responsible driving growth and brand awareness for the Battery Innovation Center (BIC). This role is a hybrid of technical sales development, proposal management, and strategic marketing. The SMC is responsible for nurturing customer relationships, navigating complex technology contracts, and elevating the BIC brand within the global energy storage ecosystem.
The SMC will provide a unique blend of technical literacy—specifically within battery technology or advanced R&D—and the professional polish required to present to industry leaders and government stakeholders.
Position Summary
The Sales & Marketing Coordinator (SMC) is responsible driving growth and brand awareness for the Battery Innovation Center (BIC). This role is a hybrid of technical sales development, proposal management, and strategic marketing. The SMC is responsible for nurturing customer relationships, navigating complex technology contracts, and elevating the BIC brand within the global energy storage ecosystem.
The SMC will provide a unique blend of technical literacy—specifically within battery technology or advanced R&D—and the professional polish required to present to industry leaders and government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Customer Development:
Identify and qualify new leads while maintaining strong relationships with existing partners across commercial and government sectors. Responsible for Lead generation with potential customers.
Proposal Leadership:
Lead the end-to-end development of technical proposals. This includes drafting content, coordinating with technical teams, and ensuring all submissions meet client and regulatory requirements.
Contracting:
Navigate and manage government proposals and contracts, ensuring compliance and timely execution.
Sales Management:
Maintain the sales pipeline, track organizational KPIs, and manage the CRM to ensure no opportunity is overlooked.
Market Research : Identify and analyze current and emerging market trends, potential clients, and new business opportunities.
Collaboration : Work closely with the other departments to align strategies and achieve business goals.
Marketing & Branding
Brand Stewardship:
Take full ownership of the BIC brand identity, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. Expand the profile and reach of the company brand.
Content Coordination:
Collaborate with external marketing resources to produce high-quality social media content, brochures, and technical marketing materials.
Event Management:
Lead the planning and execution of BIC-hosted events, workshops, and industry conferences.
Market Research : Identify and analyze current and emerging market trends, potential clients, and new business opportunities. Tracks emerging markets and trends.
Outreach & Presentation
Industry Presence:
Represent BIC at national conferences and networking events (approx. 1–2 trips per month).
Presentation Development:
Create compelling, data-driven presentations for stakeholders, potential clients, and conference audiences.
Public Speaking:
Deliver high-impact presentations that effectively communicate BIC’s capabilities and value proposition.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
3–5 years of proven experience in technical sales, business development, or a related role.
Education:
Bachelor Degree in a technical field or commiserate experience.
Technical Literacy:
Familiarity with battery technology, energy storage, or high-tech R&D environments.
Communication:
Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into winning proposals.
Organizational Skills:
Mastery of sales management tools and the ability to juggle multiple projects with strict deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Direct experience with government contracting
(SBIR/STTR, DoD, DOE).
Background in technical marketing
or corporate communications.
Proficiency in CRM software and presentation design tools
(e.g., PowerPoint, Canva, or Adobe Suite).
