James Perse is currently hiring a full‑time Art Director for our corporate location in Marina Del Rey, CA
Objective of the Position

The James Perse Art Director is a highly motivated individual, who brings top‑tier experience, ideas and knowledge from the fashion industry. The Art Director will work directly with leadership and partner with other Art Directors and creative services personnel on the team to ideate, conceptualize, execute and oversee implementation of seasonal creative over a wide category of creative needs. Experience in luxury fashion is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Art Director will bring a discerning eye, fresh ideas, and work in a very fast‑paced environment where results on high‑level campaigns and customer‑facing design are a high priority.

The Art Director will be tasked with creating designs and content for materials that include communications, website, photo art direction, video art direction, marketing, publicity material, and other experiential expressions of our brand, including events and elements of our world‑renowned retail design. Print and digital art direction will be required.

Introduce and leverage additional contacts and connections from like‑minded industries to help execute a concept‑to‑production and complete projects on time and within a specified budget.

Able to develop a concept from limited direction and create presentations that will clearly communicate ideas to leadership. The Art Director will also provide a path to executing the concept that is both on‑brand and delivered by tight deadlines.

Show a brand‑side mentality, an interest in luxury fashion and the James Perse sensibility.

Apply sharp typography skills and an understanding of the luxury segment to create photorealistic renderings, mockups, on‑brand graphic presentations, and catalogs.

Manage photo art direction, high‑level graphic design, and meticulous asset formatting and organization, with equal strength across all areas.

Use AI and emerging technologies; experience in DAM (digital asset management) systems.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: 5+ years in general and 2+ years in a similar Art Direction role.

Strong technical aptitude and skills.

Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

On‑set skills to input on photoshoots and collaborate with producers and talents.

Experience using AI to create and manipulate imagery and video.

Video editing in Premiere Pro or similar software is a plus.

Ability to articulate and exemplify brand vision.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to multi‑task, problem‑solve, and meet deadlines set by multiple departments.

Professional communication skills.

Additional Skills

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, CaptureOne.

ChatGPT or other AI programs.

Compensation
This position pays $120,000 base salary or commensurate with experience.
