Yankee Publishing Incorporated is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Associate Editor
to join the editorial team behind the iconic
Old Farmer’s Almanac
brand. This role is ideal for an editorial professional who loves accuracy, storytelling, and collaborative creative work—and who is excited to contribute to publications, digital content, and products enjoyed by millions of loyal readers.
As an Associate Editor, you will play a key role in researching, writing, editing, fact-checking, and proofreading content across Old Farmer’s Almanac products and Almanac.com. You’ll contribute throughout the editorial lifecycle—from idea conception through final publication with a focus on editorial excellence, efficiency, and revenue growth.
Responsibilities
Fact-check, copyedit, and proofread print and digital Old Farmer’s Almanac content
Support the calendar editor by helping create annual calendars, including writing, editing, fact-checking, and proofreading entries
Develop holiday lists, grids, and calendar-related sales materials
Compile, verify, and enter content such as calendar data, tips, folklore, poetry, and proverbs into editorial databases
Participate in ongoing database maintenance, indexing, migration, and organization projects
Respond to reader questions with accuracy and clarity
Collaborate with the editorial team to develop new editorial products and initiatives
Participate in editorial meetings and contribute ideas
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a liberal arts field
5+ years of experience in consumer media editorial roles
Excellent research, writing, editing, and grammar skills
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong ability to spot errors
Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
Collaborative mindset with clear, effective communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe tools
Experience working with content management systems
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Media or public relations experience
Digital storytelling or podcasting experience
Interest in gardening, astronomy, history, folklore, weather, sustainability, or related Old Farmer’s Almanac subject areas
