
Customs Trade Specialist

Responsibilities
Facilitate all necessary entry processing and cage functions to secure release of shipments in a timely and accurate manner per CBP and OGA regulations and time frames.
Serve as the primary link between FedEx Express and FTN for account/shipment specific issues.
Complete various audit activities, including complex eWSRs, high duty, ABi warnings, ABi errors, census rejects, high-entrance value, duty verification, FDA audits, and other FTN audit functions.
Record and track complex audit issues to initiate corrective action, working with FedEx Trade Networks FDA, tech services, and quality assurance groups.
Sort and assign departmental incoming work and monitor daily workflow to ensure regulatory timeframes are met.
Correspond in writing or by telephone with shippers, clients, and customs or other governmental agencies at all levels to resolve issues that could result in liquidated damages or additional duty.
Research and write claims and protests to Customs and Border Protection on behalf of FTN, FedEx, and their customers.
Obtain refunds or tender duties and process in the FTN online billing application in conformance with FedEx billing procedures.
Gather information from FedEx/FTN systems for distribution and report building.
Produce operational and trend reports for management distribution.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 12 months of industry experience preferred; at least 6 months work experience required.
Three (3) years of business experience required, including two (2) years of related experience preferred.
Knowledge of CBP and OGA regulations, tariff schedules, general import procedures, and systems preferred.
Data entry/keyboard experience required; working knowledge of MS Office and email applications such as Outlook.
Excellent computer skills in a Windows environment.
Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational, inter‑personal, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a time‑sensitive environment with high accuracy and productivity.
Ability to use multiple systems and reference materials; interact with customers, carriers, brokers, government agencies, internal staff, management of all levels, and internal departments.
Knowledge of customs regulations and harmonized tariff schedules preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Shift: Tuesday – Saturday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM CST.
Location: Hybrid role.
