Account Manager - Personal Lines

Job Summary Responsible for managing and developing new and existing personal lines accounts. Serves as the primary contact with customers, builds or maintains relationships and ensures a positive client experience. Provides administrative support in obtaining, maintaining, servicing, and expanding accounts. Understands the insurance needs of clients, manages new and renewal policies in accordance with carrier policies and procedures, provides policy or coverage recommendations to clients, and examines and analyzes applications, renewal requests and endorsements for compliance with underwriting guidelines. Must be a team player and able to work under minimal supervision.

Essential Job Duties Policy Management & Compliance (50%)

Manages new and renewal personal lines accounts and adheres to carrier policies and procedures.

Negotiates with carriers, prepares presentation and proposal materials, collects customer information, and orders policies from carriers.

Examines and analyzes applications, renewal requests, and endorsements for compliance with underwriting guidelines.

Client Relationship and Account Management (30%)

Understands client needs and collaborates with carriers to manage incoming requests effectively.

Solicits new business opportunities, handles account rounding, and ensures timely account renewals.

Provides clients with coverage recommendations, explains available options, completes necessary forms, and quotes premiums accurately.

Team Collaboration & Professional Development (20%)

Enters client information in the agency management system to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

Handles incoming client requests via phone or email and delivers effective customer service.

Stays up-to-date on rates, forms, and industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging insurance products from insurance carriers and online resources.

Assists other team members, engages in premium negotiations, and builds relationships with carriers and brokers.

Attends carrier/broker and Account Manager meetings (virtual or in-person).

Assists team members as needed to meet agency, department, and individual goals, fostering a positive and service-oriented attitude towards agents, clients, insureds, and employees.

Marginal Duties

Performs other duties as assigned.

Adheres to the company's Attendance Management Policy.

Possesses a positive, service-oriented attitude towards agents, clients, insureds, and employees of the company.

Must be able to travel and attend off-site client meetings as needed.

Qualifications Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of insurance experience and/or training.

Equivalent combination of education and job-related experience will be considered.

Strong organizational skills, communication, and accuracy in documentation.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations

Upon hire, the candidate must have reliable personal transportation with a valid driver's license and a vehicle that is legally registered and insured.

Property & Casualty Solicitors License required.

CPCU, CIC or other insurance designations preferred.

Any other certificates, licenses or registrations required by the position.

Working Conditions Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Any other physical demands required of the position.

Work Environment

Primarily an office environment where noise levels are usually moderate.

Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

Must be available by phone 24/7 to respond to immediate needs or emergencies.

Must be willing to work beyond a normal eight-hour day and occasionally on weekends as needed.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $54,700 to $101,900. The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
