EnviroSystems Management, Inc. is hiring an experienced
Vegetation Management Field Director
to lead ambitious field projects across the Southwest. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in the field, knows plants inside and out, and enjoys mentoring crews while delivering high-quality results.
Responsibilities
Active fieldwork (up to 75%) combined with leadership, planning, and reporting responsibilities. Projects may include herbicide application (backpack, UTV, spot, and broadcast spraying).
Noxious weed surveys, treatment, and monitoring.
Hand thinning using chainsaws and hand tools.
Broadcast seeding and vegetation restoration.
Data collection, GPS mapping, and reporting.
Plan field operations and coordinate logistics with clients and office staff.
Lead, train, and supervise field technicians.
Mix and apply herbicides safely and accurately.
Maintain and repair field equipment (chainsaws, sprayers, UTVs/ATVs, trucks, trailers).
Conduct and oversee vegetation and weed surveys and treatments.
Lead daily safety briefings and ensure crew safety.
Train crews in plant ID, tool use, ergonomics, situational awareness, and project methods.
Collect, manage, and quality-check field data and pesticide application reports.
Use GPS units, maps, aerial imagery, and GIS tools.
Document field conditions with photos and detailed notes.
Review and interpret biological data and relevant research.
Represent EnviroSystems professionally in the field and with the public.
Qualifications
Degree in
Natural Resources or related field
(preferred).
Arizona Applicator Certification
(preferred, and required after start date).
2+ years
of experience in noxious weed survey, treatment, and data collection.
Strong plant identification skills (native, invasive, and noxious species).
Fieldwork experience in
AZ, NM, CO, UT, and/or NV .
Proven leadership and ability to supervise field crews.
Experience with
GPS and GIS .
Proficiency in
Microsoft Word and Excel .
Ability to work independently, solve problems, and improve procedures.
Comfortable working in rugged terrain and operating vehicles safely.
Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
