Overview
A Senior Product Designer in the Core Diagnostics Division located in Lake Forest, IL is needed at Abbott. This role focuses on user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design for point-of-care diagnostic products to support infectious diseases testing. The position requires on‑site presence daily.
What You’ll Work On
Work with R&D teams and strategic marketing to design and develop UX and UI concepts and prototypes for diagnostic product systems based on user research and product strategy.
Create UX journey maps, task‑flow diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes across phases of the new product development process.
Lead UX design and prototyping for usability studies to uncover user pain points and opportunities for design improvement.
Plan and conduct usability testing and evolve the design based on findings.
Collaborate with the application development team to implement UX/UI design concepts, balancing interaction design, visual design, and technical feasibility.
Design and mold unique, differentiated user experiences across desktop, web, and mobile.
Help define, lead, and evolve the Diagnostics Design System to ensure all products are both functionally and visually consistent.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to identify key requirements impacting UX/UI design.
Experience providing strategic guidance related to UX/UI design, including design approach, key considerations, and trade‑offs.
Ability to advocate UX/UI design goals across the division through effective communication with leadership and collaborators.
Experience coordinating design activities with vendors and consultants to ensure prototypes or design services meet project requirements and milestones.
Pay
The base pay for this position is $78,000.00 – $156,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the posted range.
