Designer, Structured Woven Bottoms

Overview

This role is responsible for designing and executing structured woven and denim bottoms from concept through production. The Designer will own development within assigned categories with a strong focus on fit, fabrication, wash, finish, and cost. This role requires a balance of creative vision and technical execution, with the ability to identify emerging trends and translate them into commercially viable product.
Responsibilities

Design and develop structured woven and denim bottoms from concept through production
Create CADs and detailed sketches using Adobe Illustrator
Develop and execute tech packs, including initial specs, construction details, trims, and wash instructions
Research and identify trend direction and translate into brand-right product
Shop market and competitive landscape for inspiration and product opportunities
Partner with Design Director to align seasonal direction with business needs
Plan and develop product aligned to style plans, sales goals, and emerging trends
Develop fabrics, washes, finishes, color palettes, and trim direction
Ensure product is designed within cost parameters and partner with production to maintain margin targets
Manage overseas communication with vendors and sample facilities for development and execution
Attend fittings and provide clear direction to technical design on fit and construction adjustments
Ensure product execution meets aesthetic, quality, and fit standards
Partner with merchandising and sales to support line development and presentation needs
Assist in merchandising and styling showrooms for internal and external presentations
Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, production, technical design, fabric R&D, and marketing teams
Maintain adherence to development calendar and time and action milestones
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited art or fashion school
5–9 years of experience in apparel design, with a focus on structured wovens and/or denim bottoms
Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; CAD development required
Experience creating tech packs and initial garment specs
Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, washes, and fabrication
Experience working with overseas vendors and managing development communication
Ability to manage development from concept through production with moderate independence
Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
