Job Summary
Direct the Quality and Continuous Improvement process for the GPI facility. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality System, allocating capital to equipment and processes, and identifying training needs related to new equipment and processes. The objective is to improve people and processes, reduce cost, and enhance product quality to remain competitive and support business growth. Align operations with GPI goals and demonstrate how the Department supports overall business, culture, financial and operational objectives.
Job Functions
Meet and maintain all divisional Quality Process Management objectives as established by GPI.
Direct the activities, duties, and projects of the QC and Lab Technicians to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
Serve as the plant’s contact for customer complaints and audits. Maintain reporting systems for internal and external complaints within SAP in accordance with GPI requirements.
Direct the development of SPC in production and QC areas to maintain process control that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Execute and manage CI initiatives including Six Sigma, Process Improvement, and Lean projects. Track and report financial validated savings through the GPI Project Tracking Database.
Communicate plant quality expectations and monitor performance against objectives in a timely and effective manner.
Solicit input from all employees to aid in achieving the listed actions.
Ensure compliance with facility product safety (GMPs) and sanitation policies; promote orderliness and cleanliness in support of product stewardship standards.
Be trained and certified in SQF and HACCP for Lead Practitioner within the plant.
Be knowledgeable about SQF prerequisites including SQF, HACCP, GMP, and Food Defense.
Develop, implement, review, maintain, and communicate the latest version of SQF CODE.
Lead and coordinate the annual plant SQF system review, internal audits, and scheduling of the annual third-party audit.
Coordinate with the third-party certification body on audit dates and blackout dates, submitting approvals in advance of the re-certification window.
Coordinate SQF-related root cause/corrective actions.
Perform verifications and validation of SQF controls on a determined schedule.
Establish and maintain methods for monitoring, sampling, inspection, testing, and analyzing raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods.
Review and update SQF training requirements for all onsite personnel.
Develop and maintain SQF-related documents and records.
Protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s reputation in relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and government agencies, acting with Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.
Other duties as assigned.
Background / Experience
Manufacturing experience preferred.
Must be a certified Six Sigma Black Belt or attain certification as part of selection for this position.
Participates in Six Sigma projects as necessary.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, track, execute and document multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, develop, implement and document systems for maintenance and control of products and processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software, MINITAB, SHAREPOINT, and related tools.
Exposure to the shop floor environment; most work performed in an office setting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to make reasoned decisions with incomplete information; maintain high standards of quality and ethics.
Action oriented, capable of rising to challenges quickly.
Leadership skills with the ability to motivate others.
Excellent attendance and the ability to work independently and perform essential duties.

Education / Knowledge
Minimum 2-year degree with 5 years of progressive experience.
Skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak before groups. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform calculations, rates, ratios, and percent; ability to interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied forms.
LEADERSHIP SKILLS: Action oriented, drive for results, dealing with ambiguity, customer focus, and ethical standards.
COMPUTER/OFFICE SKILLS: SAP, MS Office and database programs; general office equipment.

Essential Job Functions
Schedule demands: General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment; occasional willingness to work alternate schedules, early mornings, nights, weekends. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, and sit; various movements of neck, back, fingers; reach in multiple directions.
Lift up to 10 lbs; typing and computer skills are essential.
Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak; ability to discern color; use of hand and electrical tools.
Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noises.
PPE required: steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, hair/beard nets.
