Overview
This role is for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Interior Designer with strong expertise in residential design and the technical knowledge that supports it. We’re looking for a high‑caliber Senior Interior Designer to lead our most ambitious residential renovations and projects. The successful candidate combines refined, high‑end design sensibilities with strong technical expertise, ensuring projects are executed seamlessly from concept through completion. They think strategically, understand the financial drivers behind design decisions, and maintain a clear big‑picture perspective while managing the complexities of construction.

Responsibilities

Design Leadership : Conceptualize and execute sophisticated interior design schemes, from initial mood presentations to detailed construction documentation.

Renovation Management : As part of the project management team, jointly oversee full‑scope renovations, ensuring design intent is maintained through all phases of demolition, renovation, and finishing.

Furniture & Styling : Lead the development of comprehensive furniture packages, including sourcing, custom upholstery specifications, and white‑glove installation styling.

Technical Documentation : Produce detailed CAD drawings, including floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, and millwork details.

Project Operations : Utilize JobTread to create and manage project budgets, schedules, material procurement, and vendor communications with precision.

Client Management : Act as the primary point of contact for clients, presenting designs with confidence and managing expectations throughout the renovation lifecycle.

Strong Business Acumen : Strategic, understands contribution towards the firm’s long‑term growth and reputation.

Qualifications

Experience : Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a lead interior design role, specifically within the residential renovation sector.

Education : A degree or diploma in Interior Design from an accredited institution (DID, BID, or equivalent). NKBA qualifications required.

Software Proficiency : Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit; mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop). Experience with JobTread for project management and estimating is a bonus.

Technical Knowledge : Deep understanding of BC Building Codes, Vancouver‑specific permitting processes, and construction methodologies.

Project Provenance : A portfolio demonstrating successful completion of large‑scale renovations and fully realized furniture/soft‑goods integration.

Creative Excellence : An “editorial” eye for detail and a passion for staying ahead of global design trends.

Operational Discipline : A high‑level understanding of project margins and the ability to maintain profitability without sacrificing design integrity.

Collaborative Spirit : Ability to communicate effectively with general contractors, trades, and junior design staff to ensure a seamless workflow.

Compensation
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 per year, plus bonus depending on experience. Experience will be considered.
