The EA SPORTS AF – Concept Artist/Illustrator
The EA SPORTS AF is looking for a Concept artist/Illustrator who is passionate about solving complex problems and building experiences to delight our players.

About The Role
Concept art is the initial creation of the look, feel, and style of work from a design brief. It sets a project's tone and visual style and is a point of reference for everyone involved. Visual storytelling is the key task of the Concept Artist. They imagine characters and worlds off the page and bring the story to life. The role of the Concept Artist is crucial as their work will be the stylistic building blocks for the American Football project. A concept artist interprets a client's design brief or expands the original idea by illustrating the key characters and environments of work. This preliminary artwork is simple but expressive as it will be developed and expanded further during the development process.

Concept Artist Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Concept team and Art directors regarding the brief for the project.

Research relevant project material including translation styles, characters, and similar projects.

Present concepts, research, and references to the project team.

Interpret initial ideas and create quick sketch drafts for review.

Conceptualize and effectively visually communicate ideas to get buy‑in from stakeholders.

Create innovative, emotive art within strict technical limitations and tight deadlines.

Collaborate within a diverse team to create a variety of visual themes for programs that reflect our game.

Develop characters, environments, props, logos, and designs based on feedback.

Prioritize tasks and manage time to meet demanding content scheduling requirements.

Keep up to date with the latest design trends and advancements in technology.

Be a strong team member but self‑reliant and driven.

Concept Artist Requirements

Strong drawing skills, with a specialization in concept design and illustration.

Solid understanding of visual language – texture, color, dimension, scale, perspective, shade, composition, depth of field, proportion, spatial awareness, etc.

A portfolio of work demonstrating strong artistic and storytelling ability.

Excellent sketching abilities for rough conceptualization.

Ability to draw in a variety of styles.

Proficient in a variety of digital 2D and 3D software programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, and Blender.

Ability to deliver high‑quality artwork against tight deadlines.

Good communication skills, ability to explain concepts and support artistic choices.

Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Understand composition, grid, color theory, typography, iconography, logo and layout design.

Comfortable presenting cohesive design approaches and iterating based on feedback.

Has a knack for creative problem solving.

Takes initiative and ownership.

Knowledge of American Football & sports games is beneficial.

2‑3+ years of experience working on video game titles or relevant concept art / visual design experience.
