LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, DAVIDSON COUNTY
This position is with Pesticides and is located at the Ellington Agricultural Center.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to four years of full-time professional work in one or a combination of the following: forestry, plant, pesticides, weights and measures, food and dairy, laboratory or any other related agricultural or laboratory work that may be deemed by the agency.
Substitution of Experience for Education:
Additional full-time professional experience in a field as listed above may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years, there being no substitution for the required three years of specialized experience.
Substitution of Education for Experience:
Graduate course work credit received from an accredited college or university in forestry, plant, pesticides, weights and measures, food and dairy, laboratory or any other related agricultural or laboratory work may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of one year (e.g. 36 graduate quarter hours in one or a combination of the above listed fields may substitute for one year of the required experience).

Overview
Under general supervision, is responsible for managing an agricultural program of average to considerable difficulty; performs related work as required.
An employee in this class has management-level responsibilities for an agricultural program that may include the delivery or the interpretation of policy and procedure for a region, central office reviewer or policy writer. This class differs from Agriculture Program Director 1 in that an incumbent of the latter directs a small to medium size program.
Responsibilities
1. Assists in directing and coordinating agricultural programs such as inputs, pesticides, feed, seed and fertilizer programs or any other related agricultural program areas.
2. Assigns, trains, supervises and evaluates assigned staff and their work; reviews and makes recommendations or employment, promotion, demotion, transfer and other human resources actions.
3. Assists in development, implementation and monitoring of agricultural program policies and procedures.
4. Assists in the study of organization, operations, and services and makes recommendations for improvements effecting economy, efficiency, and quality of organization, operations, and services.
5. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of a wide variety of records and reports.
