Safety Engineer (Contract, On site)
New Iron is seeking a Safety Engineer to support operations in a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
This role focuses on ensuring adherence to safety standards, including 6S methodologies, in a dynamic production environment. 80% of your time will be spent on the fabrication floor.
This is an on-site, contract position, in Phoenix, AZ. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
Responsibilities
Conduct daily audits of assigned tool groups to maintain 6S compliance and ensure a hazard free working environment
Verify that barricading and signage are properly positioned and clearly readable
Review completion of required documentation
Confirm lockout/tagout (LOTO) hardware and safety interlock bypass indicators are properly applied and consistent with pre-task safety documentation
Confirm interlock defeat tags are installed and align with supporting documentation
Report deficiencies and communicate unresolved issues or violations to the designated Safety Coordinator
Work cross-functionally with on-site personnel to address issues beyond immediate resolution capability
Participate in incident investigations as needed
Requirements
OSHA 30 (or higher) certification
Strong organization and reporting skills
Excellent communication skills
Physical capability for extended standing/walking in a production facility
