Position Overview
The Videographer is responsible for capturing and producing dynamic video content that enhances communication, operational awareness, and organizational identity for a high-visibility Navy customer. The role delivers high-quality multimedia products that translate complex missions, technologies, and initiatives into compelling visual narratives, supporting mission-critical communication, workforce engagement, and external outreach.

Responsibilities

End-to-end video production: planning, capturing, and producing high-quality video content, including pre-production (concept development, scripting, storyboarding), production (filming, lighting, audio capture), and post-production (editing, color correction, sound mixing).

Visual storytelling & mission communication: developing compelling narratives that effectively communicate mission priorities, technical concepts, events, and personnel stories in a clear and engaging manner.

Event & operational coverage: providing video coverage of ceremonies, observances, leadership engagements, and operational activities at the Washington Navy Yard and across the National Capital Region, with occasional off-site assignments.

Multi-platform content development: producing and formatting video content optimized for digital signage, social media, internal communications, and external websites, ensuring adaptability across formats and audiences.

Clarity, simplicity & engagement: applying best practices in visual communication to ensure content is concise, visually engaging, and easily understood, even in fast-paced or high-traffic environments.

Brand alignment & standards compliance: ensuring all video products align with Navy branding, messaging, and style guidelines, while adhering to security protocols and communication standards.

Accessibility: incorporating accessibility features such as captions, audio clarity, and visual contrast to meet Section 508 requirements and support inclusive communication.

Collaboration & stakeholder engagement: working closely with government representatives, communication teams, subject‑matter experts, and other creatives to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with strategic goals.

Technical excellence & equipment management: operating and maintaining professional‑grade video, audio, and lighting equipment, and ensuring proper setup and execution in both studio and field environments.

Editing, effects & post‑production quality: producing polished final products using editing software, incorporating motion graphics, overlays, captions, and visual enhancements to improve clarity and impact.

Continuous improvement & optimization: incorporating feedback and performance insights to refine production techniques, storytelling approaches, and overall effectiveness of video communications.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Video Production, Film, Photojournalism, or a related field with at least four (4) years of experience, OR at least six (6) years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience in full-cycle video production, including scripting, filming, editing, and post-production.

Proficiency with video production and editing tools (primarily Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, or similar platforms).

Strong understanding of cinematography principles, including composition, lighting, camera movement, and audio capture.

Ability to translate complex or technical subject matter into clear, engaging visual stories.

Experience producing content for multiple platforms, including digital signage, web, and social media.

Knowledge of audio production, lighting techniques, and studio/field production workflows.

Familiarity with motion graphics and visual effects (preferred).

Understanding of accessibility standards (Section 508) and inclusive media practices.

Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in government or military environments.

Familiarity with security protocols and handling sensitive or controlled environments (preferred).

Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.

Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint).

Clearance Requirements
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Work Location
Washington, D.C. – Onsite. The company also values flexibility and collaboration; employees may work remotely or in a hybrid model from Pantheon Data office locations or client sites as required.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $102,000. Actual compensation will be based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
