
Production Coordinator - Community Information Division Job at County of Volusia

The County of Volusia is seeking a Production Coordinator to join our Community Information team. This position is located in DeLand, Florida and will perform technical and creative work coordinating and producing videography, still photography, post‑production editing, motion graphics (2D/3D), field production and audio/visual services in support of Volusia County’s Council, programs, and services.
Candidate must be able to work flexible hours to include nights and weekends.
Video Production & Creative Services Plans, produces and directs video content about County services and programs.
Performs pre‑production and post‑production video editing.
Performs pre‑production and post‑production audio editing.
Operates camera, lighting, and audio equipment in studio and field environments.
Creates 2D/3D motion graphics, animations, and visual effects for video content.
Collaborates with County departments to develop video content and live productions.
Assesses current and future video production needs and recommends equipment and workflow improvements.
Videography, Photography, and A/V Production Operations Captures video and still photography; performs image editing and color correction.
Serves as the County’s designated videographer and photographer for social media, publications, and news releases.
Sets up, operates, and breaks down audio/visual systems for public meetings, workshops, live broadcasts, and streaming events.
Operates and maintains cameras, switchers, audio mixers, and lighting systems.
Live Event Production Support & Coordination A/V set up and tear down of field production events.
Operation of cameras, audio, and video equipment during live events in the field.
Assists with set design, lighting design, and on‑location production setup.
Collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders on video/multimedia projects.
Provides consultation and technical guidance on video production and A/V needs.
Additional Responsibilities Coordinates maintenance and repair of audio/visual equipment across County facilities.
Operates unmanned aerial systems (drone) for video production (training may be provided).
Supports emergency communications and public information efforts as needed.
Participates in Emergency Operations Center functions for extended periods of time.
Responds to emergency situations and performs related duties as assigned.
May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
Must adhere to Federal, State, County, and Local ordinances.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of experience in Broadcast Journalism, Video Production, Audio Production, Video Graphic Design, or a related field.
OR
University degree in Broadcast Journalism, Video Production, Audio Production, Video Graphic Design, or a related field and two (2) years’ experience in video production, audio/visual services, or related communications field. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of videography, video cameras, sets, and lighting.
Knowledge of photography and still cameras.
Knowledge of video current editing platforms, motion graphics software, AI, etc.
Knowledge of audio production techniques.
Ability to operate and maintain professional video, audio, and lighting equipment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to groups and individuals.
Ability to respond to emergency situations.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work under stressful conditions.
Ability to interact effectively with others.
Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational need.
Preferred Technical Proficiencies Experience with industry‑standard software and systems such as Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom).
Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Studio and Blackmagic camera/switcher systems.
vMix or similar live production software.
Digital audio mixing systems.
Licensed drone pilot (FAA Part 107 preferred).
ADA Requirements Physical Demands: Ability to hear, lift (50 lbs.), stand, grasp, crouch, climb, turn, walk, pick, reach, push, pull; manual dexterity; visual acuity to operate audio/video equipment, peripheral vision. Ability to traverse uneven, broken or wet terrain. Ability to tolerate heights and continuous motion resulting from scaffolding, helicopters, airplanes, boats, auto/trucks.
Environmental Demands: Work both inside and outside. Ability to tolerate inclement weather, heat, humidity, odors, cold, dust, noise, fumes. Exposure to closed, confined spaces and chemicals.
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and professional journals and manuals; letters, memos, safety instructions, newspapers, periodicals. Ability to perform shop math and basic math. Ability to review scripts, write memos, reports, letters, instructions and procedures. Ability to speak publicly; conversant in theory and practices of discipline.
