Company Description: Notes for Notes (N4N) provides free access to mentorship and professional recording studios equipped with industry-standard instruments and music technology, including synthesizers, drums, and advanced digital workstations. This work experience project offers an inclusive space for young creatives to explore the music industry through immersive, hands‑on music production. Under the guidance of skilled N4N Producers, participants engage in a self‑paced, contemporary music education that honors their individual learning styles completely free. Internship Description / Learning Objectives: This program focuses on providing youth with hands‑on experience in the music industry, allowing them to explore and develop their skills in one of six career paths: Songwriter, Musician, Performing Artist, Producer, Marketer, or Engineer. Youth will work within a collaborative team of 6‑7 peers to create a professional‑quality five‑song EP, where each individual contributes their unique talents and expertise. Over the course of the seven‑week project, youth will gain practical knowledge in their chosen track, with a strong emphasis on artist development, creative collaboration, and the music creation process.
Alongside N4N producers and industry professionals, youth will complete job‑specific tasks that enhance their technical and creative skills, learn about career opportunities in the music industry, and build a strong portfolio of work. The program is designed to foster both personal growth and professional readiness in a dynamic, real‑world environment.

Job Duties: Participants will collaborate with peers to write, record, produce, and perform original music while meeting creative deadlines and professional expectations. Youth will help build their artistic brand, promote their music through social media, and prepare for live performances through rehearsals and stage‑presence training. Throughout the program, participants will work as part of a creative team, receive feedback, and release music that meets industry standards, culminating in an EP release and live showcase celebration.

Preferred Competencies: Proficient understanding of music production and the process of creating original music. Experience using a DAW such as Protools, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Bandlab, etc. Ability to collaborate and network with other artists and musicians. Fundamental knowledge of songwriting, production, musicianship, or performing artistry. Prior experience with various social media platforms.

General Information
Work Schedule Days and Hours: Monday‑Friday, 9:30 AM‑1:30 PM

Dress Code: Comfortable clothing. No clothing with offensive images or language. No exposed midriffs, low‑cut tops, or tank tops. Come as yourself!

Travel Required: The travel required will only be to and from the studio as we are fully in‑person. The final showcase will be located out of the Studio at a location that is to be determined.

Physical Requirements: None, youth will be working indoors with instruments and technology.

Working Conditions: Inside a music studio packed with gear, instruments, and audio workstations.

Program Dates: June 1 – July 17

June 1 – June 3: Interns attend assigned worksite for scheduled times.

June 4: POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport.

June 5 – July 17: Team Members on site at their agencies on Monday‑Friday at the time scheduled by employer. You will be scheduled to work 4 hours daily, which equals 20 hours per week.

July 13 – July 17: POWER Youth Summer Employment Program – End of Summer Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the summer.

If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project‑based employment for youth ages 14 – 15. Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work‑ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation.
