Internship Session: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026

Interns will spend 10‑12 weeks shadowing and gaining on‑the‑job experience in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented news environment.

News Producer

Collaborate with news managers and producers to identify daily key stories.

Learn to write broadcast copy, research stories for accuracy, and complete projects quickly.

Manage the execution of a live newscast in control room, working closely with production staff.

Create graphic elements, including lower‑third supers and full‑screen graphics.

Work under tight deadlines with an eye for accuracy.

Communicate with reporters to determine placement and tease compelling elements.

News Reporter

Work under tight deadlines with an eye for accuracy.

Collaborate with reporters and photographers to cover local news.

Write stories for online and broadcast.

Shoot stand‑ups and practice live shots.

Cover news and write stories for newscasts, guided by producers & news managers.

Learn technical workflow and skills necessary for a local news reporter.

Video‑Journalist

Gather video and interview content, assembling stories for broadcast.

Make quick assessments regarding safety and situational concerns while shooting.

Collaborate with reporters to tell visually compelling stories.

Understand care and maintenance of equipment.

Learn technical workflow and skills needed for local video journalism.

Digital Producer

Collaborate with digital content manager and producers to identify daily key stories.

Write broadcast copy, research stories for accuracy, and complete projects quickly.

Produce content in a content management system that populates digital platforms – web and social.

Communicate with reporters to learn details and make necessary calls for information.

Learn technical workflow and skills for digital production.

Technical Production

Observe and train on all aspects of behind‑the‑scenes newscast production: directing, technical directing, audio, camera operation.

Learn how all roles function together to execute a live newscast from the control room.

Manage newscast execution software, graphics, camera shots, and live field elements during a newscast.

Communicate with a team during stressful situations to troubleshoot and navigate live issues to a positive outcome.
