Tax Preparer | Ann Arbor, MI | Hybrid/Remote
If you are in a role where you just prepare returns and barely know the client, this will feel different.
Here, you work with them.
You pick things up at the start, see it through, and you are part of the relationship. You are not passing work up a chain and hoping someone else deals with it.
You sit alongside a Partner, not miles away from them. You hear the conversations. You get involved properly.
If that is the part of the job you enjoy, this is worth a look.
The clients are solid. Mostly small to mid-sized businesses. $1m to $10m usually, sometimes bigger. Healthcare, services, hospitality. Enough variety to keep it interesting, but not chaos.
The firm is growing as well. Not in a “we say we are growing” way. They are actually looking at acquiring more firms this year. They are around $3m revenue now, four offices, plus a virtual setup, and pushing forward.
The Ann Arbor office has a real team atmosphere. If you want to be involved and a part of something, this will work for you.
If you have around 2+ years of public accounting experience and can do the job, you will be considered.
There is also a very obvious path if you want it. Build your own client base, take more ownership, and you can earn 20% of the revenue from those clients. No layers, no politics around it.
Flexibility is what you would expect. Hybrid, usually home Monday and Friday. Core hours are 10 to 3, the rest is up to you. Office shuts on Fridays over the summer.
They are ideally looking for a CPA or EA (or willing to get) with around 2+ years in public accounting. More importantly, someone who actually wants to work with clients and not just sit behind a screen all day.
Here is the truth about applications. Many people treat them like a checklist where missing one item means instant rejection. That is not how this works.
If this role interests you, apply. The apply button is not a commitment, it is the start of a conversation.
Prefer a chat? Call me at 412-991-2084.
I start at 6am EST, so mornings work. After 5pm EST is fine too, though I may be slightly less lively.
Think you meet most but not all of the requirements? Apply anyway. The firms we work with want capable, interesting people, not cookie-cutter accountants.
Do not overthink it. The worst outcome is a friendly conversation about your career. The best outcome is where it gets exciting.
