Job Title: Digital Factor/ Robotics Engineer (Body Weld / BIW)
Duration: 12 months contract with possible extension
Location: Georgetown, KY 40324
Travel Requirement: Travel up to 10% (domestic – Mexico & Canada); no international travel currently planned
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Digital Factory / Robotics Engineer to support automotive body production and robotic welding initiatives. This role focuses on developing and maintaining digital factory models, supporting robotic welding processes, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to drive manufacturing efficiency and innovation.
You will work closely with body weld (BIW) production teams, contributing to 3D modeling, robot programming support, and feasibility analysis of welding processes.
Key Responsibilities
Support and lead digital factory updates using tools such as DELMIA, CATIA, AutoCAD, and MS Office
Develop and modify 3D body weld models for production lines
Evaluate Z1/Z2 welding processes for feasibility and optimization
Estimate robotic welding cycle times and improve process efficiency
Create 3D concepts for welding equipment and End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT)
Perform offline robot teaching and support onsite robot programming activities
Collaborate with engineering teams on body weld model changes and updates
Work with multiple data formats to develop robotic welding strategies
Prepare documentation for robot teaching, process validation, and implementation
Support robotic material handling and welding automation initiatives
Basic Qualifications (Must-Have)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, robotics, or a similar engineering role
Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with 3D design tools such as CATIA, DELMIA, or SolidWorks
Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially advanced MS Excel
Knowledge of robotics and automated systems
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
Experience with AutoCAD and MS SharePoint
Knowledge of VB/VBA programming
Experience with robotic welding (spot or arc) and robotic material handling
Familiarity with offline robot teaching / data preparation
Experience with laser scanning technologies
Automotive experience, especially in Body-in-White (BIW) or welding environments
Exposure to digital factory tools and simulation environments
